Language Learning Activities on Plants of Guam

26 Students
Fourth Grade Elementary
Filipinos, Chamorros and Micronesians
Low – Medium Socio-economic Status

State Objectives
Students will name and identify 7 out of 7 plants given
in Chamoru with 100% accuracy. (niyok,
tangangtångang, ifit, pi’ao, alangilang,
pågo and nunu)

Students will be able write 3 sentences about
each plant in Chamoru with 100% accuracy.

Students will make a simple book on the 7 plants.

Students will be able to read the sentences
written in Chamoru with 100% accuracy.

Select Methods, Media and Materials
(Natural Approach)
Students can use the internet to find the plants: http://uog2uog.edu/cals/site/POG/chmpn.html

Students can use pictures from teacher.

Students can do field observations and draw the plants.

Utilize Media and Materials
Students will be grouped by five with at least
one student having internet access at home.
(Cooperative learning)

Teacher will provide visual aids of the plants for the
students to see. Students can use their own drawings
of the plants.

Recquire Learner Participation
Students get into their groups and share the
information that they’ve obtained through
the internet, visual aids or field observations.

Students are to answer these questions in Chamorro:

Require Learner Participation
Students can write about the plants in
Chamorro and get feedback from the teacher.

Students can use the computer to do their write ups
on the plants.

Students can make a simple plant book in
Chamorro to share with the class.

Evaluate and Revise
Checklist:
